Max Polianski, Head Coach

Max Polianski, born in Russia in 1996, is a swim coach with a unique background. Having represented New Zealand in various competitions, Max transitioned from being a competitive swimmer to a dedicated mentor and advocate for the sport. His journey in swimming started at West Auckland Aquatics, before moving to United Swimming, and eventually leading him to the National High Performance Center. His dedication to the sport even took him to the USA, where he represented Florida State University to further develop his swimming career and education where he got his Bachelor's Degree in International Affairs.

Max's commitment to swimming goes beyond his personal achievements. He has been part of teams that have won against strong opponents, always emphasizing the importance of swimming with confidence, pride, and resilience.

Max's love for swimming doesn't stop at the pool's edge. He runs a swimming page, @chlorinated_caffeinated, where he shares his knowledge and passion for the sport with a wider audience.

From 2020-2023, Max was the Junior Head Coach at United Swimming Club, where the club reached first place at multiple national events as the ‘Top Club’. As the new Head Coach at Parnell Swimming Club, Max brings his competitive experience and a family tradition in the swimming business. His coaching philosophy, shaped by his own experiences, emphasizes good technique, discipline, smart training, and the camaraderie of being part of a team.

Max is more than just a coach; he's a mentor, a motivator, and a role model for young swimmers. His appointment as Head Coach at Parnell Swimming Club is an exciting new chapter in the club's history, and he's eager to use his experience and passion for the sport to inspire the next generation of swimmers at Parnell Swimming Club.

Tamlyn Leal

Tamlyn Leal: Cub/Cub Development

Swimming has always played a huge role in my life. I began competing in swim meets from a young age and competed in many regional swimming competitions, achieving my South Western District swimming colours in my primary school years. In high school, I continued swimming training, competing in weekly school swim meets and developed an eagerness for open water swims. Whilst completing my Bachelor of Education Degree, I completed my Swim South Africa Instructors Diploma.

I have been involved in stroke correction and Junior League swimming for just short of 20 years. My mum has run her own swim school and swim club for the past 40 years and was instrumental in developing my love of the sport and guiding and mentoring my teaching and coaching style. I am a firm believer in ‘fun’damentals being introduced in Learn to Swim, setting a good foundation for the introduction to stroke and stroke correction.

I am looking forward to continuing my swimming journey of making a difference in young swimmers lives and to continue to develop their love of and commitment to swimming.
