Welcome to the Parnell Swimming Club swimmer journey! Our squad structure is designed as a progressive pathway, guiding swimmers from their first club experience to reaching their full potential. Each stage is carefully designed to develop the technical skills, physical endurance, and mental focus appropriate for that level. Our goal is to provide a clear, supportive, and motivating environment for every athlete.
Junior Development Squad
This squad is for dedicated swimmers, typically aged 10-13, who are progressing from the Junior Squad. These athletes are actively representing the club at regional meets and are focused on developing the skills and endurance required to compete at a higher level and work towards national standards.
Focus
Training in Junior Development is about advanced refinement. The focus is on improving stroke efficiency, developing a powerful aerobic capacity, and understanding how to use different training intensities. Coaches work on advanced race strategy, pacing, and underwater skills, while fostering independence and accountability in training.
Is your swimmer ready for Junior Development?
They have legal and efficient technique in all four strokes.
They are proficient in all turns and finishes, including complex IM transitions.
They can accurately read, understand, and execute training sets from the pace clock.
They can maintain strong technique even when tired.
(Entry is based on coach assessment of technical skill and commitment. Time guides are benchmarks indicating readiness for the squad's training demands.)
